In Asia: China's Shanghai Composite rose 0.53% or 13.52 points at 2,573.43. Hong Kong's Hang Seng gained 0.58% or 94.78 points at 16,475.83. Singapore's Straits Times added 2.19% or 44.36 points at 2,073.07. Taiwan's Taiwan Weighted advanced 0.65% or 40.87 points at 6,371.27.
Yesterday in US mkts: Dow Jones gained 214.3 points or 2.6% at 8427, Nasdaq ended up 44.3 points or 2.6% at 1764 and S&P 500 ended up 30 points or 3.4% at 907.2
Indian ADRs rallied on Monday as US markets ended higher. ICICI Bank was up 14.16% at $ 23.46 and HDFC Bank was up 10.31% at $ 82.67. In IT space, Wipro was up 12.04% at $ 10.61, Infosys was up 6.71% at $ 32.76, Satyam Computers was up 1.13% at $ 1.79 while Patni Computers was up 4.53% at $ 8.08. Tata Communication was up 3.81% at $ 23.95 while MTNL ended lower by 7.82% at $ 2.71. In other sectors, Sterlite Industries was up 11.62% at $ 9.51, Tata Motors was up 5.65% at $ 7.86 and Dr Reddy’s Labs was up 2.09% at $ 11.23
